Each softgel carries 1000mg of fish oil, and within that 180mg of EPA and 120mg of DHA. The 1000mg figure is the oil, not the omega 3. The two numbers that matter for any claim are the EPA and DHA figures underneath it.

The 250mg threshold, and why it is the only number that matters

There is one authorised claim that a standard strength fish oil can realistically carry in the UK: EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, with the beneficial effect obtained at a daily intake of 250mg of EPA and DHA.

That threshold is why the combined figure matters more than the oil weight. A 1000mg fish oil softgel carrying 90mg of combined EPA and DHA does not reach it and cannot carry the claim.
